Little Things Make Big Things Happen
I just got done ordering personalized, folded note cards. Why? Don’t we have emails and texts? For years 2025 and 2026, I am the President of the Pittsburgh Chapter of Legatus. If you don’t know what Legatus is, look them up. It is a group of Catholic business leaders and their better halfs, founded by Tom Monaghan of Domino’s fame, that get together and help each other with business and faith issues. Think Young Presidents that eat fish on Fridays.
As in any organization, to keep the organization vibrant you need to bring in new members. To that end, chapters invite guests to thier monthly meetings to give them a free taste of what we are all about. When I was running banks, I used to send hand-written notes to customers or others I had recently met with. Rather than sending the ubiquitous email, which any chump can do, the personalized note, shows a little extra effort and it is, as it says, personalized. Why not do that for our prospective members? It is who we are!!!!
As John Wooden said, little things make big things happen. A little thing like sending a notecard is a simple gesture that says who you are, who your organization is and makes it personal. As you consider your business practices, don’t overlook the little things that can distinguish you from your look alike competitors. Those little things will add up!!!
